“I am one of the searchers. There are, I believe, millions os us. We are not unhappy, but neither are we really content. We continue to explore life, hoping to uncover its ultimate secret. We continue to explore ourselves, hoping to understand. We like to walk along the beach, we are drawn by the ocean, taken by its power, its unceasing motion, its mystery and unspeakable beauty. We like forests and mountains, deserts and hidden rivers, and the lonely cities as well.”
“We searchers are ambitious only for life itself, for everything beautiful it can provide…. For wanderers, dreamers, and lovers, for lonely men and women who dare to ask of life everything good and beautiful. It is for those who are too gentle to live among wolves.”
James Kavanaugh wrote those words, and I have embraced them in this later stage of my life, when time and energy and curiosity has afforded me the luxury of travel and exploration. And now I am off again, this time to Peru.
It has long been on my list, not just for Machu Picchu, although certainly initially driven by that wondrous place, but also for the many eco-zones and wildlife and amazing history.
So, I’m off to wander in Peru for several weeks and will be posting as I am able. I will be traveling to various places across the country, some of which are a bit remote and may have some internet limitations. I welcome you to follow along, and comment if you’d like; I enjoy hearing from people while I’m away doing the thing that gives me my “juice” — exploring the amazing world in which we live.
Eager to follow your journey.
Peru is one of our favourite countries. You are going to love it!!!
