Day 37, Stage 34: Arzua to A Rua

Rain.  All day.  Heavy at times.  20 km, and muddy track.  Field of vision limited to what I could see beyond the rain hat and double hood of jacket and giant red rain gear, so I watched my feet try to avoid puddles and rivers of water.  It was not the nicest day on the Camino.  But in true Pollyanna style I will add that at least it wasn’t too cold!

Most days I’ve been able to enjoy the journey, even with sore feet, or too much heat, or boring stretches of senda.  Today was about getting it done.  Which is really too bad, because I think we travelled through some very pretty landscape.  Pine forests, farmland, deep wooded trails.  But not one photo taken today because it was raining.  Did I mention that it was wet today?  We are now only 1 day out of Santiago — we will arrive there tomorrow about midday, after another 20 km day.  I will walk into town with Karen, Chris and Vicki, and we will likely head directly to the Pilgrim’s Office to get our Compostrela.

Since there are no new photos, I will share a few others that I’ve not yet posted, but may have mentioned in previous posts, so read the captions for details on the where/what/when.

And tomorrow there will be pics even if it rains (which it appears that it might), as we finally reach our destination.

So you are one day away from “the journey” beginning (?) I’m very proud of you. EG

Too much rain isno fun, but you did not let it slow you down. Whatever the weather is tomorrow, savor your last trek and enjoy knowing you have accomplished an amazing feat! Hugs!
