My long days of travel have resulted in a bit of a cold for me, so although a good night’s sleep helped, an easy day was in the cards. Lunch at the Lake Macquarie Yacht Club was delightful, and as the wind picked up the ropes on the sailboats clanged on the masts. Will and I have an ongoing debate about “lake” Macquarie — he claims that’s it the largest salt water lake in Australia. I say that because it’s tidal and connected to the ocean that it’s really an inland bay. I won’t win this one, but it does make me laugh.
A quick trip to Cave’s Beach at almost low tide allowed for some cave exploration, and a lovely stroll on a wide expanse of soft sand. The water was pacific-cold, and after spotting blue bottle jellyfish on the shore, as well as a jelly blubber, I was more than happy to not do any swimming.
A quiet afternoon and evening will hopefully help me make a hasty recovery, so I can enjoy the many wonderful things to see and do in this part of Australia.
Ok NOW I am envying your travels!!! The lack of crowds, the blue skies… Sigh… Sorry about your cold. IF it is any solace, we are having the “storm of the decade” here… 2-10 inches of rain in under 24 hours. We are floating away in massive winds… 🙂 My kind of weather!
Lorrie….just took some time this afternoon to read through your journal. You have written this so well it could be easily converted into a travel book for Southeast Asia. Detailing of so much is really incredible. Look forward to the future chapters…
